La Boquita's Improvisación de Invierno
So this is 2008. And what have we done?
In the last year, La Boquita was formed, found a surprising success in Zihuatanejo and took a chance on Puerto Vallarta. We've worked hard to discover and refine our unique world fusion sound and to create a musical experience that will inspire passion, joy, nostalgia and love in our audience. Through it all, we've been sustained by the unbelievable support of our fans. During this traditional holiday season, we wanted to say thank you and send our love to our friends and family, many of whom are far away as we continue our musical journey. To that end, we've recorded a few songs that express the sentiments of the season. This collection of songs is truly an "improvisation"... The idea was an impromptu one and the studio was Isahrai's bathroom. All of the songs were recorded live over the course of a weekend. In other words, it is nothing fancy, but is completely heartfelt. It is just our improvisational way to share in the spirit of the season and to wish you all a very joyous and peaceful New Year.
To purchase the entire collection, you can send a Paypal payment to LaBoquita@gmail.com of $9 USD or 100 pesos. We'll then send you a link to download the album. Email us for other payment options. You can hear samples -- and a bonus track! -- on our Facebook page.
We Are La Boquita... a trio currently based out of Puerto Vallarta on Mexico's Pacific Coast. Hailing from 3 different countries, we bring together all of our native sounds - along with those picked up on our extensive travels - to create a truly international sound. Our mission as La Boquita is to weave together a story of the passion, frivolity, unity and power that is World Music. Not only do we play a wide variety of genres, it is our reimaginations and fusions that makes our sound so unique. Jazz blends with flamenco, hindu blends with pop, bossa nova blends with classical, all to form the nonpareil sound and experience of La Boquita.
Now Available! La Boquita's 1st CD release :: A Little Misty
We've recorded a collection of our favorite covers from this past season and the reception was so positive that we actually ran out of discs after less than 2 weeks! With a new lot of discs available for purchase at our live performances, we've also now added the ability to purchase a digital copy of "A Little Misty" here from our website. Our fans have shown us an unbelievable amount of generosity and support and it is in that same spirit that we offer the digital version of our CD on a "pay as you wish" basis.

Isahrai Azaria :: Voice
After studying both music and literature at New School University in New York City, it was quite difficult to predict whether Isahrai Azaria's path would lead her to the lonely hermit writer's life or a musician's center stage existence. Over the next decade, the path grew even more unpredictable as she struggled with illness, got caught up in the internet boom, and then spontaneously moved to Zihuatanejo in 2004... more...
Silvia Basurto :: Voice & Percussion
Silvia Basurto, or "La Chivita" as she is called by her family & friends, was born and raised in the broad & rich traditions of Mexico. She was raised on a ranch in Taxthejé, Hidalgo, that was created by her father, Don Teodulfo Basurto. Surrounded by the legacies & lessons of working the earth, pride in her heritage, and a passion for living, it is the music of her region that Silvia still carries with her today... more...
Paolo Uccelli :: Guitar, Sitar & Flute
Born in the small town of Rapallo, on the coast of Liguria near Genova, Italy, Paolo Uccelli has had a passion for the guitar since he was very young, undoubtedly influenced by his father, Gianni, and his brother, Fabrizio. Paolo began his studies at age 13 with his father. At 16, he founded his first rock band, and at age 18, he began his classical training with master guitarrist, Paolo di Zoagli. After a year of classical studies, he discovered flamenco guitar and, with his brother and flautist Mauro Pérego, formed the group FANDANGO. As part of his musical exploration, Paolo went to India for a year to learn Sitar and the Bansuri flute... more...
